Los Osos High School Achievement Office

As your Assistant Principal of Achievement, my goal is to build healthy relationships with the entire school community, promoting student achievement for all learners, and maintaining equity for all students so that they can have every opportunity for meeting their academic and personal goals.  These opportunities stem from a commitment to offer academic support and career exploration, both of which help increase the A-G rate, decrease freshmen failure rate, and increase graduation rate.

Academic supports include providing before and after school tutoring, 4G (Grizzlies Get Good Grades) Saturday School, credit recovery classes, mentoring through the LOHI Connection, AVID, and Read 180 classes—all of these are designed to provide students with the necessary tools to succeed.

As the “go to” person for our school community, I work closely with parents , our partners of the school. Students are also brought in so that I can let them know that I am monitoring their progress and am a support for them. School guidance counselors and I foster open communication so that we are on the same page. Teachers, who are the backbone of our curriculum and instruction, are asked to submit names of struggling students so that proper interventions can be put in place.  For students who are English language learners and/or parents whose primary language is not English, I ensure that a language interpreter is present at student-parent meetings so that both the EL student and the parent feel connected to the school.  Parent trainings/workshops are readily available as well. We partner with organizations that provide services including community outreach.

By increasing awareness of the importance and value of being on the A-G track, the entire school community works together. All of us—administrators, counselors, teachers, support staff, parents, and community partners collaborate together to drive student achievement so that every student in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District will become college and/or career ready by graduation.

I look forward to meeting and working with you in Grizzly Nation!

Claws up!!
